I was just scanning the papers today and came across an article about the world fastest production motorbike. The honor goes to the 2006 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14. With 1,352cc four cylinders twin cam power, the engine redlines at 11,000 rpm pushing the bike to more than 180 mph. Yes, that miles per hour, not kilometers per hour. The engine have a smooth torque curve and the bike can be docile if you ride it normally. But with just a flick of the wrist and throttles wide open, the monster comes out and you’d find yourself hanging on to dear life.

While reading about this bike, I also came across another monster bike. The bike above, was clocked at 227 mph, cost a statospheric 150,000 USD, has no cylinders at all but uses a Rolls Royce turbine engine. The turbine generates 320 hp at 52,000 rpm! Uses regular diesel or kerosene, which ever is handy. The engine sound more like an aircraft than anything else. You can read more about this unique and exotic bike here.
The only downside to the fastest bike is that you only get 5mpg, average. Then again, if you can splash 150 grand on a bike, cost of fuel will be the last thing on your mind.
