Lotus Beats Porsche and Ferrari

See a video of how a Lotus 111s take on a Porsche and a Ferrari. You can see the Lotus 111s braking later and taking corners deeper compared to the blue Porsche and the red Ferrari.

In the straights, the more powerful Porsche and Ferrari can easily take on the 111s but it is at the corners where the lighter Lotus, is more agile. Getting into the inside line and braking deeper, the 111s easily overtook the more powerful cars. Having said that, you’ll notice the track is rather short. On tracks with longer straights, the Lotus would have been left behind.

More cars should be built like the Lotus. With fuel cost rising not counting the cost to the environment, the world would be a much better place with prudent use of fuel with lightly engineered cars.

The power to weight ratio for the 111s versus other small sport cars below.

Weight of the Lotus 111s – 143 bhp / 720 kg (199 bhp/tonne)

Other light sports car :-
Porsche Boxster, 201 bhp / 1,250 kg (160 bhp/tonne)
Toyota MR2, 138 bhp / 1,015kg (135 bhp/tonne)
Maxda MX5
Honda S2000, 240 bhp / 1,280 kg ( 187 bhp/tonne)
