Nissan March
I’ve always liked small cars like the Nissan March. They are cute, fun to drive (assuming you are not thinking of blasting down the highway although some small superminis can), fuel efficient and very maneuverable.
The fact that they are so easy to park make them even more convenient as a runabout in congested city roads where they thrive. What makes the Nissan March such a great small car is that if you are prepared to spend some money, you can turn a nice little cute car into a fire breathing Supra slaying monster. More about this later. For now, we will just talk about a normal March.
Early version of the March were functional and cute for their era. It would look downright ugly today. Current versions looks down right sexy for some but other find them rather ugly (I said the word again) The Japs seems to have a different taste when it comes to cars. Sometime they do it right, sometimes their design is designed to split hairs. Look at the gorgeous 350z when it first hit the roads. People were going ga ga over them with Nissan enjoying brisk sales. Everyone wanted one. Okay back to March or Micra.
The March is a small car. With small Japanese car, don’t expect comfort at high levels. Trim is functional and clearly laid out. Being a ladies’ car, do not be surprised to see March/Micra is all shade of color. The pictures would give you some ideas.
Besides being a ladies’ car, the March, like I mentioned earlier, can be transformed into a giant slaying super car with the right engine. Popular transplant include putting in the ever popular SR20DE engine or turbo charging. Look up SR20DE if you are keen to find out more. In a nutshell, putting a SD20DE engine into the March is like putting a F16 engine into a Cessna. Something like that. Check this video to see what some have done to the March/Micra.
The only downside to the Nissan March is the limited headroom and boot space. The 2009 Nissan March (W02A) will be based on a revamped B-platform with a new engine 1.2-1.3 liter (xh5) and while the HR15DE will still be retained. I’m sure it will come in many engine and package variety. Check it out if you are in the market for a small car
