Proton Savvy

The Proton Savvy have been on the road for over a year. Proton’s effort to put together car have mixed results. On one hand, with the TUV certification, quality has improved, yet there are still much room for improvements.

The Savvy is a small car with quite a stiff chasis and a suspension tuned towards sportiness. Targetted for the younger crowd, Proton have some what built their cars like the Italians in the past. Sporty cars that handles well but with its share of character or quirkiness, depending on how you look at it. The younger crowd like the car for its handling ability, able to out corner cars costing more especially on twisty B roads.

Proton Savvy Front

Suspension is nothing out of the ordinary for a car its size, with struts up front and torsion bar at the rear. The Savvy’s engine is similar to the one used in the Renault Clio II and Twingo. A four valves per cylinder SOHC with multipoint fuel injection with a total displacement of 1149 cc. sourced from Renault, the engine has long stroke for low end torque and for this engine, maximum torque is 105 Nm at 4350 rpm while maximum power is 55 kW/74 bhp at 5500 rpm. The other modern bit is the Drive-by-wire throttle.
