Big Trucks, Lousy Safety

Money CNN ran an article showing that full sized trucks in America with differing level of safety. Even though you might think that size makes a difference, of the 7 full sized trucks mentioned, only 3 are up to mark especially when it comes to side impact protection. The test were conducted by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Top scorers include Honda Ridgeline (due to its monocoque construction), followed by the Ford F-150 and Toyota Tundra. While I’m a bit partial to

Nissan, the Titan scores low for side impact.

“The size, weight and height of these large pick-ups should help them ace the tests just like the other large pick-ups we’ve tested. Not these three,” said David Zuby, senior vice president at the Institute. “They perform worse than many cars we’ve evaluated.”
