The Toyota iQ will be launched at the end of the year. A 4 seater with a boot that is only a mite longer than the Smart car, Toyota seemed to have created it with the illusion of a magician. Alas not, seems more and more car makers is squeezing the engine and transmission to make way for more interior space with small external dimensions. What Toyota did was to position the differential in front of the transmission.

When the iQ was first shown at Frankfurt Motor show in 2007 is was supposed to look like the car above. But Toyota being Toyota, it decided to take a safe route and created something more normal.
It is also not a true 4 seater because of an asymmetrical hollowed out dashboard design allows the front passenger seat to be pulled forward, allowing another adult and potentially a child to sit in the back. So it is more like a 3 + 1. The iQ’s will be powered by 3 cylinder engines, a 1.0 and 1.3-liter petrol and a 1.4-liter diesel.
