Nissan Tiida / Versa / Latio will get a slight makeover for the 2009 model. Already crossing sales of 1 million, the Tiida has been the fastest selling product in the history of Nissan Middle East. It recently topped Japanese compact car sales in GCC markets like the UAE in June and Qatar in May this year. Enough sales talk. What’s new?

The Nissan Tiida 2009 sports a newly designed grill, a new front bumper shape and redesigned headlights. The Tiida hatchback’s taillight design and rear bumper shape have been updated. Also new for 2009 is the introduction of the Tiida Sport, which is an optional package consisting of a rear spoiler, side-skirts, and bumper lips.

There are more transmission choices for the new models including a new 6-speed manual transmission on 1.8-liter models along with the re-tuned electric-assisted power steering (EPS) system that promises to offer improved feel at low and high speeds.

The reason why the Tiida / Versa / Latio has been so popular is because of it’s combination of good interior space vis a vis its compact external dimension, decent handling and good fuel economy. The added 6 gear manual will no doubt improve on the fuel economy.
One area the Tiida shines is in crash protection. That it received several safety recognitions including the highest 6 star rating for its crash impact safety by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism of Japan in 2004 and the highest ratings for front, side and rear impact by the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in 2008 is probably a key decision for potential buyers.
