If you are in the market for a hybrid car, consider the Toyota Camry Hybrid. Why? According to Consumer Reports, comparing a non hybrid Camry with the hybrid, the added cost of just US$ 1,700 will pay back itself in a year.

Some hybrid actually makes you lose money because the different in pricing and the savings fuel economy is insignificant. You’ll be better with a full blown gas engine except you can feel better that you’re doing the environment some good.
The same cannot be said for the Nissan Altima and Honda Civic Hybrid. After 5 years, if you bought the Altima Hybrid, you would be down by $750 compared to owners of the non-hybrid. Worst of all, it would only break even at the eighth year of driving the car. Slightly better is the Civic Hybrid with estimated savings of US$25 after 5 years. That’s no typo. With tax credits, you’ll come up in front.
