You might think this is a joke but the Piaggio MP3 is certainly something to be reckon with. In the quest to get 60mpg or more, I came across the Piaggio MP3 by accident. It is a practical 3 wheel that gives upwards of 60mpg depending on how you ride it.

The unique part is the parallelogram front suspension that give it uncanny ability to stick to the ground. It sports a 250 cc single cylinder QUASAR, 4-stroke, 4 valves, electronic injection, catalyzed engine. Transmission is through CVT so all you need to do is twist the gas and off you go.
The MP3 come in 3 models. There is a smaller 125 cc engine and a meaner 400cc big brother. Storage space under the seat is good enough for a briefcase!
Because of the unique front suspension, it can do all sorts of tricks you can’t do on a motor bike like jumping on the front brakes while you are banking. It stops much shorter also because of the added tire and brakes although it doesn’t have ABS.
Not only is the MP3 a head turner in town, it is garnering quite a following world wide and the factory in Italy is having trouble producing them fast enough. Prices are a bit steep however at about $8,000 for the 250cc model.
Perhaps it is the time for such bikes in the daily commute.
