Sometime back, I posted about the Air Powered Car, the CityCat that TATA Motors in India will be building. Now, there are plans to bring a similar car to the US. Zero Pollution Motors is licensing the technology from MDI, the company headed by Guy Negre a Formula One designer.

Fuel consumption figures of 100 mpg are cited and the car will be taking part in the Automotive X-Prize challenge. The targeted price is $ 17,000 there abouts and thanks to an even more radical engine designed, is said to travel as far as 1000 miles at up to 96 mph with each tiny fill-up. Apparently, the engine uses a heating chamber to increase volume (of compressed air) for an extended range. A lot of hot air and big claims indeed. Let see it for real.
This is how the engine looks like.

PS Hope it looks as cool in the driveway as in the pictures.
