Another car that just got more muscle is the Lotus Elise SC. SC stands for supercharged. Using a small Eaton M45 supercharger with no intercooler, the Elise SC produces 217bhp. The performance is in supercar territory pushing the featherweight 903kg Elise to 60mph in 4.4 sec and to 100mph in 10.7 sec
Starting from the Elise type roadster and variants of the Elise, Lotus cars were never about top speed, the maximum speed being only 150mph! Minor thing that give away the Elise SC will be wider wheels at the back and small rear spoiler.
Lotus is making all other Elises more practical and livable. Albeit only slightly, perhaps to gain more customers. Airbags are standard and a new soft-touch dashboard on all cars. Two choices of trim to choose from. Touring Pack brings leather trim, carpets and sound insulation. For the harder core, the Sport Pack gets you Bilstein sports dampers, traction control, twin oil coolers, sports seats and sports wheels and tires.
Thank goodness air-con and traction control are still options.
