Mitsubishi Evolution X

Mistubishi Evolution Xa

The Mitsubishi’s Evolution X needs no introduction for car fans around the world. Just through its name, you’d know it is from a pedigree line that started way back in 1992 that started winning World Rally Championships. The new Mitsubishi Evolution X continues its tradition of a supercar in disguise except it is much better looking than its previous brethrens. Previously it has the power, speed, some say better tricks than most supercars at a fraction of the cost, now it has the looks to complement it too.

What’s new on the Mitsubishi Evolution X? While having the same DNA like its predecessor, it has a new chassis, it is 0.6 inch shorter, wheelbase has been stretched by 1.5 inches, it is 2.7 inches wider and 3.8 inches taller. Off course chassis bending and torsion has improved and that by more than 50 percent! However it has gain about 200 pounds.

The new heart, designated MB11, is an all aluminum, 2.0-liter twin cam with symmetrical cylinder dimensions. Mitsubishi’s famed variable valve timing, MIVEC is applied to both camshafts for a wide power band.

Next is a mouth full of technology to satisfy the most demanding high tech petrol head. S-AWC super all wheel control technology with ACD, Active Center Differential, AYC, Active Yaw Control and ASC, Active Stability Control. There will also be active suspension and active steering both to make the Mitsubishi Evolution X super dynamic and super fun.

Drive will be either through a 6 speed, dual-clutch transmission similar to DSG or a 6 speed manual for purist. Approximate price for the Mitsubishi Evolution X is $30,000.

Yet again, manufacturers are making such cars bigger, heavier and more thirsty. Growing up for family cars in understandable. Supercars like the Mitsubishi Evolution X should be made lighter.

  2. David says:

The Mitsubishi Evolution X is an interesting car. Having owned its predecessor, I think the looks department have improved by leaps & bounds. But like Car Nut mentioned, I’d prefer a lighter car from Mitsubishi rather than stripping stuff off later.

    my 2 cents
